Representatives' Power Point for 8/12 Business Roundtable

Dear Members,

I would like to thank the Chamber’s Members who took time away from their businesses to come to the Chamber’s annual August Congressional Roundtable featuring Congresswoman Judy Biggert and Congressman Mark Kirk, Wednesday, August 12th, at Hotel Arista.

Your membership in the Chamber provides you with a resource to have your voice and your concerns heard at all levels of government. Yesterday’s roundtable touched on the Federal Surface Transportation Bill, the Employee Free Choice Act (Card Check), the American Clean Energy and Security Act (Cap and Trade), and the various proposals for health care and insurance reform.

Running a business requires your full attention. Your Chamber, through your membership and support, is your active advocate in the governmental process, so you can stay focused on your business.

Thank you to all who participated in our event. We were discussing issues that elicit strong feelings. The Congressional Roundtable was a civil event that gave you, our valued Members, an opportunity to engage in dialogue with your elected officials.

At the Roundtable and in follow-up, we’ve had numerous requests for the materials we provided at the event. You can download the resource packet of background material, we had at each seat by clicking here. The Congressional Budget Office, the nonpartisan analysis and research office of the legislative branch, has authored four comprehensive letters on elements of the health care legislation. You can download the four documents in their entirety by clicking here. You can download the Representatives’ PowerPoint by clicking here.

The Chamber will continue to work with our elected officials in Congress and at all levels of government to ensure that your voice is heard in the issues that impact your businesses.

Thank you for your membership.

Sincerely,

John Schmitt
President & CEO
