(Naperville, IL – May 17, 2010) My Chef Catering was named the 2010 Corporate Philanthropic Award (WSPA) winner by the West Suburban Philanthropic Network (WSPN). The award recognized My Chef as an organization that demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to advancing philanthropy and volunteerism throughout the western suburbs.

My Chef Catering, and its owners Karen and Bill Garlough, were nominated by Naperville CARES executive director Janet Derrick, who recognized their strong belief in giving back to the community.

“As soon as I heard about the WSPA I immediately thought of My Chef; Karen and Bill have become such instrumental members of the Naperville philanthropic community and are really a model business in terms of giving back,” nominator Derrick said.

My Chef supports 25 local not for profits annually. Both Bill and Karen Garlough give of their time and talents to help these local organizations. Karen serves on the Board of Directors of Naperville CARES and Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Bill serves on the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Naperville, Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Bill and Karen have created and chaired fundraisers to support local not for profits, including Naperville CARES’ Cuisine for a Cause, and Toasting for a Cause, and Rotary’s Soup’s On! fundraiser which benefits local food pantries and shelters.

“We have benefitted so much from our community that it only seems right to give back whenever we can. To be recognized as a business for anything is always an honor, and to be recognized for our philanthropic efforts is especially meaningful,” Karen Garlough, co-owner of My Chef Catering said.

The WSPN is an organization which has been dedicated to supporting the development of professionals and the advancement of philanthropy in Chicago’s western suburbs for the past 21 years.
