Chamber Successfully Advocates For Repeal of SECA Reporting Requirement |
|
|
The Naperville City Council voted Tuesday night to repeal the
new Special Event and Cultural Amenities (SECA) reporting requirement.
Earlier this week, the Chamber’s Legislative Committee and board of directors
unanimously agreed to act on the behalf of the 130 nonprofit organizations
represented by the Chamber that would have been unnecessarily burdened with the
new SECA reporting requirement. At the request of the Legislative Committee and
board of directors John Schmitt, Chamber president & CEO, took the lead and
wrote a letter to the City Council, urging them to repeal the ordinance
immediately.
The City Council voted 5-4 to repeal the legislation. The Chamber’s swift action
was a success.
This success is a shining reminder of what we can accomplish when we work
together to act as the unified voice of the business community.
