From John Schmitt: The Chamber’s Going to China and You Should Too!

Dear Members:

Exciting news, later this year the Chamber is headed to China for nine days and you’re invited to join us on our journey. For more than a decade the Chamber has embraced free trade agreements in our annual advocacy agenda and scores of speakers have addressed the economic and social impact of this new era of globalization. We’ve welcomed delegations from China, Slovakia, Mexico, and even the South Korean Ambassador stopped by Naperville.

We’ve decided that we need to walk the walk, and begin facilitating trips out of Naperville and across the globe. I am very excited that our first trip is to China, a country rich in heritage and booming with future economic opportunity.

You can learn more about the trip, Exploring China’s Golden Route, in this edition of The Current or attend our informational seminar  on Mar. 29, in Conference Room A.

We will travel Friday, Oct. 26 through Saturday Nov. 3. We’ll have an opportunity to see three of China’s most prominent historic cities that are transforming into global economic centers, including Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai. Your registration covers all costs associated with the trip, including airfare, hotel, meals, and travel visa, just to name a few.

In the coming weeks and months you’ll learn more about the details of our trip, but I encourage you to considering joining us for this amazing voyage to China. In determining the logistics for the trip, we consulted with several chambers across the country to learn their best practices. We’ve contracted with a travel agency with an excellent reputation and organized a trip agenda that suits our Chamber.

I am looking forward to our trip later this fall. Traveling to China will help us gain an appreciation for the culture, history and potential of one of our largest trading partners and an emerging superpower. We are pleased to offer this opportunity for you our Members and the community at large.

Don’t hesitate to contact myself or Tami Andrew, vice president of operations and member services with any questions you have.

Thank you for your continued membership.

Sincerely,

John Schmitt
