Dear Members:

Last week we announced that noted author Gary Krist will be speaking at the April 23 General Membership Luncheon about his latest book, “City of Scoundrels.” As someone who is interested in the history of our region, I’m looking forward to his presentation, and explaining the fascinating facts he has gathered about Chicago history.

But more importantly, I’m excited that the program marks the start of a new partnership with Anderson’s Bookshop to bring authors to our membership luncheons. One of the goals at the Chamber is to provide Members and the community with unique and innovative programing and we are very pleased to be working with Anderson’s Bookshop to help fulfill this need. 

This new partnership would not be possible without the help of Becky Anderson and her entire team at the bookstore. Simply put, without their name, credibility and access in the publishing world, we would not be able to secure these talented authors and provide you access to their information, knowledge and stories.

Several months ago when the Chamber received news that the U.S. Chamber had accredited us again at the 5-star level, I expressed that honor and prestige belonged with you, our Members. We are a 5-Star chamber and can provide an array of services and unique educational opportunities because of you – our Members. This new partnership with Anderson’s is just one of several we’re working on to provide you added value with your membership.

So over the next several months you’ll notice a few more authors speaking at Chamber events and you can know that we owe it to a dedicated family of leaders who have been a part of our business community since 1875 and selling books since 1964!

I hope to see you Monday, April 23, at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville at the General Membership Luncheon. Tickets are $25 for Members in advance and $30 at the door.
