Apply for a Position on the Chamber's Board of Directors

In accordance with the Chamber’s bylaws, the board of directors has seated a nomination’s committee to solicit and receive applications to serve on the Chamber’s board of directors.

“Service on the Chamber’s board of directors is an opportunity to give back to the business community,” said chair-elect, Dr. Cathy Subber. “As a board, our responsibility is to provide the strategic direction to help deliver value for the membership.”

There are nine board terms expiring. Seated directors will serve from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016. To apply for a seat on the board, a Member can self-nominate or nominate another member to serve on the board.

Board nominees must complete and return the application by the end of business on Friday, August 10. Applications may be turned in to interim president & CEO Tami Andrew at tandrew@naperville.net or chairman of the board, Shane Beard, shane.beard@fastsigns.com

After completing the application the nomination committee interviews all candidates for the board and then forwards its recommendations to the current board. Upon approval of the board, the slate of nominees is forwarded to the membership for approval at the designated annual meeting.

All applications and responses during the interview process are held in confidence.

Serving on the Chamber’s board is a volunteer position. The elected 28-member board of directors manages the Chamber’s overall strategic direction; ensures quality programs, services and products are offered to Members; promotes and supports the Chamber and its activities; and provides governance and oversight of the Chamber’s finances and internal policies.

Directors are expected to serve on a subcommittee, which meet monthly, attend Chamber events, and remain active and knowledgeable in the Chamber’s advocacy efforts.

Any Member in good standing is eligible to apply for nomination. Members may fill out an application for themselves or recommend a fellow Member. All applicants will be asked to interview with the nominating committee.

After all applications are reviewed and interviews are completed, the committee will nominate seven Members for election and submit them to the incumbent board of directors for approval. Once the board approves the list of nominees, Chairman Beard will submit the names to the membership.

A formal election will take place at the Annual Meeting of the Membership, tentantively scheduled for the Monday, October 22, General Membership Luncheon.
