From Tami Andrew: What the 'Business Voice' Means for You |
|
|
Dear Members:
The Chamber’s tagline is “the business voice,” but what does that mean to you our members? Your investment and involvement in the Chamber powers our advocacy agenda, but what’s in it for your business?
The answer is a more efficient business climate conducive to economic growth. Collectively we have a voice that is respected and can bring about positive change in the regulatory and tax environment.
Some of our advocacy efforts are very specific and narrow, such as updates to the sign code, reviewing annual budgets, or endorsing (or opposing) referenda questions, but others are at a global level and help drive the conversation about how to help our economy grow faster and create more jobs.
At every step along the way we make sure we are spending time on efforts that impact our members and will improve the business climate.
We undertake this work, on issues large and small, because collectively the Chamber believes that all businesses benefit from an environment that fosters individual achievement, supports educational attainment and rewards entrepreneurship and business success.
This requires hard work, constant monitoring of the environment and working together with government to improve the playing field. Through your ongoing membership and involvement in our efforts, you are helping drive success for the broader business community.
Over the past few years the Chamber and our community have scored victories that laid the foundation for growth. Whether it’s repealing taxes that no longer make sense, or getting funds reinvested in critical infrastructure such as widening Route 59.
Most small companies and most business people haven’t thought of having a government affairs program until they run into an issue obtaining a permit or receive a friendly letter in the mail from an regulatory authority. If you ever have an issue or concern, please don’t’ hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help you navigate the political and regulatory arena.
It is the Chamber’s honor and privilege to represent the interests of our outstanding and diverse membership base. From independent start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, we have the cross section of America’s economy in our Chamber. This provides an endless talent pool of individuals with the expertise, knowledge and background to help advance commonsense and meaningful reforms that will facilitate growth and prosperity for our community and region.
Sincerely,

Tami Andrew
