From John Puscheck: The Unsung Heroes of Our Economy
The engine for growth in the American economy has always been the small business. It is once again in the spotlight as the key to job growth and a sustained recovery from the recession. Now more than ever it is important to recognize the value and importance of the small business and to celebrate its success. For these and many other reasons, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased each year to be able to present our Small Business of the Year Awards.

Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Announced
The Chamber is pleased to announce Kenneth F. Packer, Ph.D., P.E., as the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient as part of the 2010 Small Business of the Year Awards.
"We are honored and pleased to recognize him as our Lifetime Achievement Recipient at the 2010 Small Business of the Year Awards," said Chamber President & CEO, John Schmitt. "Packer Engineering is an example of the spirit and prowess of the American entrepreneur. Dr. Packer's commitment to providing leadership for his employees, our business community and students, is just one example of many in his career which we will highlight at the Small Business of the Year Awards on Friday, May 28."

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the nominees for the 13th Annual Small Business of the Year Awards. The award categories have changed for this year’s awards. The categories are Business to Business, Business to Consumer, Professional, Not-For-Profit, Retail and Excellence in Business (businesses under 5 years old).

May Business Meeting: Communicating Through A Crisis
The Young Professionals of the Naperville Chamber (YPN), will have an opportunity to roll their sleeves up and understand the basics of communicating through a crisis when media strategist and Chamber Board Member, Dennis Culloton, speaks at their next Business Meeting on Friday, May 14. Culloton, who was recently profiled by the Daily Herald started his career as a reporter, served as spokesman for O’Hare International Airport and served as Press Secretary to former Governor George Ryan, before entering the consulting business.
