The Legislative Committee invites all Members and community leaders to attend an upcoming program in the Chamber’s special Congressional Briefing Series on Tuesday, August 7th featuring U.S. Representative Judy Biggert.
It has become an annual tradition of the Committee to welcome Rep. Biggert for an interactive congressional update each August. This year, the event will be held as a stand-alone breakfast from 7:30 – 9 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 a.m., at White Eagle Country Club.
“In addition to going to Washington, the Chamber works with elected officials to provide community job creators the opportunity to share your thoughts and analysis about the economy and how current policies are helping or hampering your business,” said Chamber interim president and CEO Tami Andrew. “These programs are educational, informative and a unique benefit of membership with the Chamber; we encourage you to participate whether you’re a policy novice or wonk.”
This is the Chamber’s fifth congressional briefing of the year. At the August 7th breakfast briefing, Biggert will be presented with the Spirit of Enterprise Award, the U.S. Chamber’s recognition for Members of Congress who vote with the Chamber on key issues. Biggert has one of the highest cumulative ratings with the Chamber of any member of Illinois’ congressional delegation.
The Legislative Committee will hold its regular meeting on Monday, August 13th at Hotel Arista. Keynoting the meeting will be Joe Costello, executive director of the Regional Transportation Authority.
About Judy Biggert:
Biggert has represented the 13th Congressional District since 1999 and has earned a reputation as a bipartisan leader, capable of passing major legislation. In the 112th Congress, Biggert serves on three committees including Financial Services, Education and the Workforce and Science Space and Technology. She also serves on six subcommittees and chairs the Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community.
