Southern Company Gas

Dave Surina is the Manager of Land Management for Southern Company Gas, parent company of Nicor Gas, the largest natural gas distributor in Illinois, which is headquartered in Naperville. In this role, Dave is responsible for all Land and Real Estate related activity for Southern Company Gas operations primarily in Illinois, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. Dave began working for Nicor Gas in 2007 where he spent 12 years in the Land Management Department serving in various roles of increasing responsibility before moving to a role in the Community Affairs Department in 2019. He returned to Land Management in 2023 and continues to office out of the Nicor Gas Headquarters in Naperville.

Dave is a member of several chambers of commerce organizations and business associations within the four-county region he serves in his role as Regional Manager of Community Affairs and has served on the board of directors for economic development organizations in northern Illinois. Through community outreach and enrichment programs supported by Nicor Gas, Dave is actively involved with many local charitable, educational and community support organizations and programs including United Way and Junior Achievement.

Prior to joining Nicor Gas, Dave worked for several Chicago-based law firms in the areas of real estate and business law as a senior paralegal and was the owner and managing broker of a small residential real estate firm in DuPage County. Dave has held an Illinois Real Estate Brokers license for more than 20 years and is also a member of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

Dave received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Roosevelt University and is also a graduate of the Evelyn T. Stone College of Professional Studies – Paralegal Program at Roosevelt.  He has lived in Naperville for more than 20 years with his wife and daughter.
