The biggest topic of discussion may have been around the referenda questions that will be on the November ballot. I applaud DuPage County for providing an opportunity for voters to speak directly to decision makers through a vote on important questions that affect us all. The County produced a great summary of the questions here.
“Shall DuPage County oppose the General Assembly instituting a property tax increase equivalent to 1% of your home’s value to help retire state debt?”
“Shall DuPage County oppose the creation of a statewide Vehicle Mileage Tax (VMT) which would tax DuPage County citizens based upon the number of miles driven annually?”
“Shall DuPage County continue to dissolve and consolidate units of local government to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and increase accountability?”
The Legislative Forum voted to present the first and third question to the Board of Directors for a formal position from the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, while they asked for the second question to receive greater study. But you can add your voice now with our survey!
