Troy A. Clarke is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Navistar International Corporation. Clarke was elected chairman of the Navistar board of directors in February 2017. He was named chief executive officer and president in April 2013.
With approximately 12,400 employees across the United States and around the world, Navistar is a leading manufacturer of commercial trucks, buses, engines, and military vehicles. The Lisle-based company generated $8.1 billion in revenues in 2016.
Previously, Clarke served as Chief Operating Officer of Navistar, as well as President, Truck and Engine. He joined Navistar in December, 2010, as President of Navistar Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for leading the company’s growth initiatives in the region. He came to Navistar after a distinguished 35-year career at General Motors Corporation (GM).
Before retiring from GM in 2009, Clarke served as president of GM North America and GM Group Vice President. Prior to that, he was President of GM Asia Pacific from 2003 to 2006. He held several additional leadership roles over the course of his career at the company, including President and Managing Director of GM de Mexico and Director of Manufacturing for GM de Mexico.
Clarke is a member of the board of directors of Fuel Systems Solutions.
A native of Michigan, Clarke holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the General Motors Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
