Workforce Development Webinar: Exploring Second Chance Employees to Meet Workforce Needs

To address the workforce shortages of our Chamber Members, Business Works is hosting a complimentary webinar on second chance employees (those with a past criminal record).  Topics will include discussion of area programs in which members can tap to create a pipeline of these workers, employer tax credits and liability protections available, and a success story of one of our Chamber Members who built his business model on hiring these workers.

1031 Like Kind Exchange Call to Action

As I reported in my last article, our NACC Board voted to advocate to keep the 1031 Like Kind Exchange as currently written in the federal tax code. An entourage of Chamber Members met with Congressmen Foster and Casten.

We are expecting the major threat to the 1031 being capped or removed from the federal tax code in the coming days as Congress discusses how to fund the proposed 3.5 trillion federal budget.  Should the 1031 become up as a “Payfor” we will be sending a call to action email to all Chamber Members to reach out to our Congressional delegation to oppose.  Please keep an eye out for this email should things move in that direction.

Below are short videos of our Chamber Members sharing the value of the 1031:

Bill Caton, Founder Caton Commercial Real Estate

As always, please reach out if you have questions or want to discuss a policy on your industry’s radar.
