Crime Prevention Specialist

Jim Pacetti is a crime prevention specialist with the Naperville Police Department. He joined the Naperville Police Department in 2018 after retiring as a sergeant from the Oak Lawn Police Department. During his 30-year career with Oak Lawn PD, Jim worked in the Patrol and Investigations divisions as well as in the traffic unit, with school and community programs and as a traffic crash reconstruction specialist.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Xavier University and a professional designation in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), which is a multi-disciplinary approach to deterring criminal behavior and improving quality of life by altering a location’s design, look and feel.
Amongst Jim’s duties in crime prevention, he coordinates Naperville’s Caring Hands and Fastrack programs as well as the department’s Citizens Police Academy.
In addition to his work with the community of Naperville, Jim volunteers his time with the Illinois chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (IL C.O.P.S.). Since 2013, Jim has participated as a support team member, chairperson and/or co-chairperson for the Annual Cycle Across Illinois benefiting IL C.O.P.S. Jim is also a member of the IL C.O.P.S. Critical Incident Memorial Team, which assists departments with any necessary actions following a line of duty death.
- Active Shooter Response Training: This free training gives citizens options when encountered with an aggressive intruder or active shooter to increase their chances of survival.
- Burglary Prevention: A burglary is reported every 15 seconds in the United States. This presentation gives simple tips to help reduce the possibility that your valuables will be targeted.
- Frauds and Scams: This presentation informs participants of common frauds and scams as well as tips on how to recognize them and protect yourself from falling victim to these cons.
