Government Affairs Updates

Fall is here and election season is upon us.

Early voting has begun.
DuPage County information is HERE.
Will County is HERE

Here is a look at local races we are watching that will impact our advocacy efforts:

Federal:

US Senate:  US Senator Dick Durbin has announced his retirement.  Three candidates are running to replace him.  Republican Don Tracy is taking on Democrat Juliana Stratton, who currently serves as Lieutenant Governor.  A third candidate, Whitfield Harrington, is also running as the nominee of the American Center Party.

US Congress:  The Naperville area is divided among four congressional districts, all currently represented by democrat incumbents.  In each case, they are being opposed by republican challengers.  In IL-3, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez faces Angel Oakley.  In IL-6, Congressman Sean Casten is up against Niki Conforti.  In IL-11, Congressman Bill Foster is being challenged by Jeff Walter.  In IL-14 Congresswoman Lauren Underwood is opposed by Jim Marter.

State:

Constitutional Officers:

Governor and Lt. Governor, democrat incumbent JB Pritzker has a new running mate, Christian Mitchell. They are facing republican State Senator Darren Bailey and Aaron DelMar, and the independent duo of Collin Corbett and Carolyn Schofield.  (Governor and Lt. Governor candidates run together, so voters select a team rather than voting for the offices individually.)

Attorney General: Democrat Kwame Raoul is seeking re-election and is opposed by Republican Robert Fioretti.

Secretary of State:  Incumbent democrat Alexi Giannoulias is seeking another term as Secretary of State.  He is up against republican Diane Harris.

Comptroller: Current Comptroller Susana Mendoza has decided not to seek re-election and instead concentrate on her race for Mayor of Chicago.  In this open seat, State Representative Margaret Croke is the democrat candidate and is facing republican Bryan Drew.

Treasurer: Democrat incumbent Mike Frerichs is being challenged by republican Max Solomon.
