Wednesday

Elliot Richardson and I taught a ½ day seminar on Advocacy for approximately 15-20 Chamber leaders from throughout the state. The event was organized and sponsored by IACCE. Mike Murphy hosted the meeting at the offices of the Greater Springfield Chamber and provided a unique perspective as a former legislator.
We were invited by the Executive Director of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois to attend their legislative reception, so we made a stop and did some networking.
We also attended the IL Chamber legislative reception and had the opportunity to reconnect with many friends and colleagues from the business community.
We had a late dinner with NACC members Nicor Gas.
Thursday
Meetings began early at 8:00 AM with presentations and conversations with all four legislative leaders, followed by a panel discussion on AI regulation with Assistant House Majority Leader Ann Williams and House Minority Caucus Chair Jeff Keicher.
Afterward, Chamber Government Affairs staff, Andrew Cunningham, Ramiro Hernandez, and Jordan Ryan provided updates on priority legislation in their subject matter areas.
Dr. Harley Johnson, CEO of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, provided fascinating insight into the opportunities and economic impact the field will provide.

Kevin Courtois provided an update on federal issues on behalf of the US Chamber.
New Illinois Chamber CEO, Jimmy Clayton offered closing remarks. (In all modesty, I actually got a shoutout as someone he considers a mentor, which I thought was very kind).
We spent the rest of the day at the Capitol.
As we reflect on two full days of meaningful conversations, new insights, and strengthened relationships, one thing is clear, advocacy remains at the heart of what we do. From engaging with legislative leaders to connecting with our Members and partners across the state, these experiences reinforce the importance of having a strong, unified business voice at every level of government.
The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to continue championing policies that support our business community, and we remain committed to advocating on behalf of our Members, ensuring their perspectives are heard, their challenges are addressed, and their opportunities for growth are advanced.
