Gottfried Woman of the Quarter Q&A
Q: Describe your business and what you do.
I work to ensure that every individual we serve through Badge Brew Coffee Roasters experiences an elevated coffee experience! At Badge Brew, we source our green coffee beans from quality small farms around the world which are then roasted using our unique artisan techniques. Having a foundation rooted in law enforcement lends Badge Brew a unique perspective on delivering products with integrity and care. We seek to honor everyone with excellent coffee, who wears a visible or invisible badge of honor for doing work that makes them proud! Through our methods, the unique flavor notes of each coffee plant varietal are allowed to shine through and impress! We support groups and organizations that sew into the needs of our communities, families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty, and the mental wellness of all first responders.
Q: What do you love most about your work?
I love being able to share something as wonderfully delicious as great coffee! It’s amazing to share our products with people who have the same enthusiasm for quality coffee and especially with those that enjoy coffee but have never truly experienced an excellent cup. I also appreciate the many wonderful connections and relationships that I have been afforded since the opening of Badge Brew!
Q: What led you down your career path?
For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed a great cup of coffee. As a law enforcement officer, my husband would venture into local coffee shops and begin to experience the difference in quality crafted coffee. He gradually introduced me to these varied nuances of coffee and thus our journey began of discovering and then creating that great cup of coffee on our own. Drinking delicious quality coffee became more than just consuming a beverage, but with accurate attention to detail, it became an experience. Deciding to perfect this craft and introduce our coffee to the world was a natural progression of this eye-opening experience. We joined the craft coffee revolution and thus Badge Brew Coffee Roasters was born.
Q: What advice do you have for other women in business?
Give yourself grace! As women we give so much and are capable of so much, but we do not have to be perfect. Give your best in the moment, whatever that best may be. Stand strong in your strength!
Q: Name someone in your life who inspires you and tell us why.
My mom continually inspires me. She is one of the mountains in my life that steadfastly encourages and reminds me of my many blessings, strengths, and capabilities. Her mind and energy have always been positively progressive, gently nudging me into spaces that claim anything is possible
Q: What other passions and hobbies do you have?
I love traveling and movie watching. As a wife, mom of three teens, and a business owner, traveling gives me the much-needed extended time to decompress away from home while watching a movie gives me that temporary mind escape to focus on things more lighthearted. Both allow me the opportunity to breath and exhale, breaking up the monotony of daily tasks and responsibilities.
Q: Aside from the Chamber, how do you stay connected within the Naperville community?
As a 14-year resident, I have always enjoyed all the wonderful parks and community amenities for young families in Naperville. As our children have grown, we have also watched the growth of our city. Now, there are even more adventures to be had in our community that we continue to enjoy as a family like the cool new restaurants, events at Wentz Concert Hall, and yes-shopping!
